Who We Are

We are immigrants. One universal truth for immigrants from lower-income economies is that meat and sweets are luxuries in a daily diet. This is a fortuitous benefit! Typically, small amounts of meat are used in various meals as a source of protein and umami in good food—food that tastes great and makes you feel good. This is also true of the Mediterranean diet. There is now a growing body of scientific evidence about the health benefits of a Mediterranean diet.

The Main Advantages of Mediterranean Diet

  • Diversity of ingredients: fruits, vegetables, herbs, and some different types of meats. This is a diet full of dietary fibers, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
  • Lower consumption of meat: consuming less meat is healthier for you and better for the environment.

We believe we can solve the challenges of the Western Pattern Diet by incorporating key ingredients from healthier diets, such as the Mediterranean diet, into everyday foods people already eat.

Pareto Principle

  • We live the Pareto principle lifestyle. (The Pareto principle or 80/20 rule: roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes).
  • 80/20™ Hybrid Meats philosophy: 80% of the joy of meat comes from the 20% animal-based ingredients, while plant-based meats offer 80% of the sustainability.
  • With 80/20™ Meats, our brand promise is that you can have your cake and eat it too!

Our Beliefs and Values

  • There are no silver bullets for climate change, but we need big solutions to put this massive puzzle back together. Our meat choices are one major piece of this puzzle.
  • Concerning the morality of eating meat, we believe it is solely about the responsible care of our eco-system and all resources on Earth, regardless of which living organisms we may consume. All living organisms appear to be non-sentient until we learn they are, in their own way. None of them have evolved  with the purpose of being consumed by humans or other animals.
  • We believe animals must be treated ethically. We are unequivocally against industrial animal farming; however, we also recognize eliminating industrial animal farming completely in any near-term timeframe is impractical. Instead, we must aim to reduce our reliance on industrial animal farming over time. Major issues in the food, agricultural, and energy sectors have long-standing causes and will require significant time to resolve.
